Casual Friday… Take one….

So recently two things happened… The first was that I had talked myself into purchasing an Cintiq. Now when I say talk to myself it… I mean it was a long arduous inner monologue that went back and forth for months. Maybe one day I will get into what the details of that inner battle was; but for now I will just leave that be. The second thing to happen was that I had an idea to help move my creative process along(I am pretty sure I mentioned that in my last post).

I finally sat myself down to start working on said project, and ultimately was not happy with what I was putting to paper. I know as an artist we all tend to be our own worst critics, but I was seriously considering not even continuing with the idea. But then I had to remind myself that every idea has to start some where, and from here on out there is only room for growth. So with that being said I present to you the CASUAL FRIDAY themed posts.

As some of you may know I have grown fond of the GFL Series written by Scott Sigler (yes that is my illustration on the GFL promo page, and yes I am still waiting to be credited for the image). So I had gotten the idea to create a series of pieces depicting certain characters from the GFL on their downtime. The character you see above you is Coach Hokor the Hook-Chest. The much respected coach of the Ionath Krakens. What you are looking at is the Coach lounging on a chair that was especially designed (by me) for his particular physiology. From here out not all the Casual Friday posts will be GFL themed, but a good chunk of them will. The idea has been floating around in my head for a while, and I just wanted to see this through. I hope to have as much fun with this as possible, and I hope you all enjoy what you see from here on out.  So as always stay tuned….

Welcome…

Welcome to my new corner of the physical universe!! I recently moved into some new digs and have spent the last few weeks moving, unpacking, and settling in. Now that I finally feel like I have things where I want it to be I am no ready to start cranking out new work. I have one personal project in mind, which I am hoping will knock the rust off my finger tips. So here is to cracking my knuckles and then buckling down at old Betsy (my drafting table.) for the next few nights. Tune in next week for the start of something that will hopefully be entertaining for both you and I. ;) Until next time folks!!

Opening Night…

For those of you who are friends with me on Facebook and/or subscribe to my feed, then you would have already seen me congratulate all the great people that went into making the “The Spirit Animal Group Show” happen. If so… then too bad… because I cannot help but mention it again on this forum ;) . Special UBER thanks goes out to miss Kristen Terrana-Hollis. If it were not for the intense efforts of this woman, this show would have never came to be. And I must say it was an overwhelming success. Not only was the art work amazing, but the turnout was massive(It was so great seeing old faces, and meeting new ones), AND the drink specials certainly did their job (For anyone that has never had Tiger Blood I suggest you head on down to the White Rabbit to partake in its wonderfulness!!) For those of you that wish you could have been there please feel free to take a look at the slide show below. Enjoy!!

So stay tuned because in the coming weeks leading up to the show I will be making more frequent posts pertaining to Spirit Animals. Until next time folks…

So I know it has been damn near a month since my last post, but I have a good reasons (not excuses I swear). The last few weeks have been hectic to say the least in all aspects of my life. School has started back up. So that means my commute time has now tripled in length. I am about to take a MAJOR step which I will not talk about just yet. I am also in the midst of putting together a new piece for a show that will be going up in November.

Needless to say a few things have had to be thrown to the back burner for a little. For instance…. my P90x routine has pretty much slowed to a halt. I am not to proud of that because I was actually seeing results. I am hoping once things slow down again I will be able to get back into the routine. Until then I will be posting information pertaining to the upcoming show. Below is a quick pic of the work in progress that is my latest piece. I know you cannot make up much yet, but if I show you everything… what will keep you coming back. ;)

Until next time folks.

Hell, Thy Name Is….. Back and Biceps

So … I am done with my “week 5″, and already two days into my “week 6″ of P90x. I used to to think that Plyometrics were worst part of my week, but then came Phase two “Back, and Biceps”  work out. No joke when I say I found myself saying out loud “YOU WANT ME TO DO WHAT NOW??!!” at a few points during that particular routine. I am sure those of you who have reached the phase two back and bis should know exactly what I am talking about. I woke up the next morning especially sore, but very satisfied none the less. Tomorrow I will be attacking that particular routine again, and I cannot wait how much further I will be able to push myself.

On another note, I have started to lose weight again. I have actually dropped 4 pounds in the past two weeks, and that makes me happy to see I am still on my way to reaching my ultimate goal. I almost feel bad that beach season is nearly over …. almost. Oh well… there is always Carnival 2012. By the way… who else will be playing in the Arch Angels section of Fantasy Carnival?? ;) .

So not only have I been hard at work when it comes to p90x, but I have also been involved in a few other things as well. One of which is an upcoming group art show I was asked to be a part of. I will have more information on this in coming weeks, but for the time being I will leave you with a sneak peak of what I have been working on.

What ever could this be leading too?? We will just have to wait and see =). Until next time folks!!

Note To Self….

Note to self…. When taking on a project or goal that requires you to devote a specific amount of time to it. Try you hardest not to throw a vacation smack dab in the middle of it.

So according to the calendar this was supposed to be the begging of week SIX of the P90x program. Well needless to say there was a slight speed bump in the way of properly reaching that goal. And that speed bump’s name is Trinidad. You see.. There was a last minute trip my sister had put together and decided to invite me along. The reason I ended up going were three fold. The first was just to relax, and have a good time with family. The second is a secret and will be announced at a later date on the Transplanted blog (hint, hint.). And three was to take in the official Carnival band launch of Fantasy!!.

For those of you who are not familiar with what I am talking about… This is the time of year where the major Carnival bands of Trinidad and Tobago have huge parties to introduce the costumes that they will be offering for the 2012 Carnival year. And when I say big, I mean BIG. I am still trying to regain all the hearing in one of my ears. But I digress… I had always been interested in seeing what went on behind the scenes of a Carnival launch, and I was fortunate enough to be granted back stage access, as well as a front row viewing on the opening night. All I can say was that it was a sight to behold. Music, drink, fireworks, and lots and lot of glitter and confetti. Do not think I neglected to mention the hordes of beautiful women, because you will see them in  the  few pictures  I took of my time spent behind the scenes. But as a warning what I took does no do the whole event any justice at all. Fortunately for you not only will I be posting my photos, but I will also be posting the  professionally shot behind the scenes for your viewing pleasure. Oh yea!! For those of you who are familiar with my family. You will be able to see them sprinkled throughout video either as helpers back stage or models. I cannot express enough how proud I was of them. So Enjoy!!

Lastly for those of you who are curious as to what I chose to do about my lost week with P90x. I have decided to do the only thing that actually made the most sense to me. I have decided to begin again at week FIVE, and on top of that I will be doing the double session (Krys you were right!). I do not know how it will go over in the grand scheme of things, but I am determined to finish the program to the best of my ability. So what do you think? Is this sort of cheating? I am curious to hear what anyone may have to say about this. I will continue to post weekly on my progress, and besides this one slight hiccup… This plan has been working really well for me. So until next week folks…

Aaaaaand we are “Recovering”….

So I am officially into week 4 of the fitness program, and according the schedule this is devoted to recovering from the first 3 weeks. What does that mean you ask?? Well … in laymen’s terms it just means no heavy lifting . Instead, this week is supposed to be combination of core work outs, cardio, and stretching.

Now … in regards to full disclosure I must admit due to a hectic schedule last week was a killer to complete. So hectic in fact that I actually missed a day. And continuing down the line of full disclosure, this week has not been any better. But I have good news folks, as of this morning I now find myself in Trinidad taking a little vacation, and taking in a major Band Launch (More on that in a future post.) So I figure I would take some of the free time to get back on track. So imagine waking up to a killer view(notice the picture above.), and starting off your day with a nice recovery work out. Jealous much? =)
